After-School Jiu-Jitsu: Should We Build It?
We’re asking Takoma Park families a simple question: if WDC BJJ ran an after-school martial arts program on school days, would your family use it? Tell us — the interest list decides what we build.
What we’re picturing
On school-day afternoons, kids would come to the academy after school for a real jiu-jitsu class with our coaching team, followed by supervised homework and quiet time until pickup. The academy already runs the pieces families love — structured kids classes, a coaching team parents know by name, and summer camp with aftercare to 6:00 PM. An after-school program would put that same structure into the school year.
Honest status: this program does not exist yet, and this page is not an enrollment form. WDC BJJ is a martial arts academy — not a licensed childcare provider — and no school pickup or transportation is offered at this stage. We are measuring real interest first. If enough Takoma Park families raise a hand, we’ll design the details, announce them to the interest list first, and only then open anything.
Real jiu-jitsu, after school
A structured kids class with the same coaches, groups, and standards as our regular kids program — movement and technique, not babysitting on mats.
Supervised homework time
After class, a supervised block for homework and quiet activities before pickup — kids leave with training done and homework started.
720 Erie Ave, Takoma Park
At the academy families already know — our own parking lot, the yellow-building kids entrance, and check-in at the door.

Use the form below — choose “For my child,” and write AFTER-SCHOOL in the Notes field so your interest lands on the right list. Families on the interest list hear first if the program launches. You can also call (202) 636-3453 or email wdcbjj@gmail.com.
After-school FAQ
No. This page exists to gauge interest. Nothing is enrolling today — join the interest list and you’ll be the first to know if and when it launches.
Not at this stage. No school pickup or transportation is part of the concept right now; if a future version adds it, that will be announced clearly before anything opens.
No. WDC BJJ is a martial arts academy, not a licensed childcare provider. The concept is a martial arts class plus supervised homework and quiet time at the academy — described honestly so families can judge the fit themselves.
Our kids program serves ages 4–12; an after-school version would be designed for school-age kids in that same community. Exact ages would be set when the program is designed — the interest list helps us decide.
We count you — that’s the point. If the interest is there, we’ll design the program and contact the interest list first with real details: days, times, and how enrollment would work.
